Job Description:
The Asset Protection Data Analyst role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for developing, conducting, and managing quantitative and qualitative asset protection analyses and for producing reports on asset protection data. This role works closely with the Asset Protection team and all levels of leadership throughout OSJL’s retail stores and contributes to the development of programs that support Asset Protection initiatives. Duties are performed with self-direction, independent judgment and minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research asset protection-related data, including Workers’ Compensation claims, injuries, accidents, incidents, POS/eCommerce transactions, inventory, and shrink. Utilize data mining software and techniques to extract information from data sets and to identify and report correlations and patterns to leadership.
- Develop and prepare reports, dashboards, scorecards, diagrams, graphs, and analysis to drive business decisions and support business needs.
- Communicate with stakeholders at all levels of leadership to understand data content and business requirements.
- Interpret report results, prepare summaries, and use data to predict trends and make recommendations to leadership.
- Serve as the expert for all data pertaining to asset protection functions and reports and ensure internal and external compliance is followed.
- Lead independent initiatives and project teams to collaborate with end users and identify and develop continuous improvements to processes that enhance the efficiency of report functionality and delivery. Identify opportunities for improvement to leadership.
- Participate in and contribute to the development of all asset protection reporting and applications.
- Plan, design, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of training for all end users in asset protection report interpretation and application.
- Collaborate and work with stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Store Operations and Business Analytics teams, to create, modify, and enhance asset protection data analysis and reporting for the Company.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to promote frugality by streamlining business processes.
- Monitor and audit data quality and execute removal of corrupt data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous retail store operations, retail business processes, or retail systems experience is required.
- Effective customer service and project management skills are required.
- Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drives, Docs, Sheets).
Work Environment:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential.
- Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.

The annual salary range for this position is between $55,000 - $72,000. Salary commensurates with qualifications and years of experience.
