Data Engineering Manager - Retail Media Platform

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will be working within the Retail Media Platform team to build a best-in-class Ad tech solution that will allow internal and external users to create, manage and report on advertising campaigns. You will be leading a team that’s responsible for delivering the reporting metrics needed by the Retail Media Platform, maintaining data quality, and creating a proper architecture for processing and handling data.
What You’ll Do:
Develop complex data pipelines.
Mentor, coach less experienced developers, through design sessions, code reviews and pair programming.
Work through hard problems with your team and deliver consistent results.
Think long term. Create technical roadmap for products or services your team owns.
With your experience and judgment, influence the business on how software can enhance end user experience.
Follow agile development principles when the situation calls for it. Use tools such as continuous integration, automated tests and automated deployments to improve product time-to-market.
Work together with front-end developers and external development agencies.
Organize and participate in our twice a year hackathons, where technology and business work together to create cool things
Have one-on-one meetings with developers.
Provide technical systems guidance.
Lead technical architecture for a whole component
Lead technical architecture for component relationships.
Conduct performance reviews.
Provide workplace and career guidance.
Set accountabilities for team members.
Align the team's work with the company's strategic and tactical goals.
Shield the team from distractions.
Perform advanced project management duties.
Define the long term vision for the team's component.
Provide escalation resolution for your team.
Establish standards for code and systems.
Establish standards for processes and co-ordination.
Create process for assigning decision-making responsibilities.
Does this Sound like you?
BA/BS in math, computer science, engineering or related field
2+ yrs of experience as a Data Engineering Lead
Hands-on experience with non relational databases
Ability to write complex SQL queries and perform analysis
Experience in data processing using Python or Java
Familiar with reporting tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Looker is an asset
Working experience with Git
Exposure to cloud technology (GCP, AWS, Azure) is an asset
Understanding of data warehouse concept and BI architecture
Strong oral and written communication skills
Solid stakeholder management skills
Proven team player that will work well in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Experience working in an agile environment
Experience in retail or ecommerce is a plus
Strong desire to learn and to push the boundaries of what can be done to better empower our business with data
