About the Team:

Data is core to our business and has been ingrained in the company's DNA since its founding. The Data Science team extracts meaning from RTR’s many rich customer interactions and partners with decision-makers across Product, Finance, Inventory and Ops to turn insights into actions. The Data Science team manages data models, defines and analyzes performance metrics, builds reporting, runs A/B experiments, and develops predictive models.

About the Role:

As a Data Scientist at RTR, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to address complex challenges and shape the company roadmap. Working closely with our Product Team, you will support both acquisition and retention efforts across all channels and platforms including online and offline, paid and organic, on-site and in-app. RTR’s diverse business model, spanning subscription, rental, and resale, presents opportunities for creative problem-solving and impactful contributions to the company's success.

You will own projects end to end, from framing which questions and products to tackle, through collecting information from our complex data ecosystem, transforming that data into insights that can impact our business, and integrating the product into our network of services in collaboration with our engineering team.

Responsibilities: 

• Identify new opportunities to leverage data science that improve RTR’s acquisition and retention strategy
• Work with and develop ML models, perform A/B testing, and apply quantitative analysis and data mining techniques
• Determine and calculate KPIs to objectively evaluate inventory health and performance
• Create reusable datasets with appropriate architecture using our complex data pipeline
• Partner with the business and engineering to ensure that we are collecting appropriate data and are utilizing the appropriate frameworks to analyze our performance
• Build data tools and dashboards that empower various stakeholders throughout the organization

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Technology, Business or related fields; advanced degrees and/or specializations a plus
• 3-5+ years experience with emphasis on statistical analysis (designing and conducting A/B experiments, performing quantitative analyses, testing scientific hypotheses, etc.)
• Experience coding in statistical or scripting computer languages, particularly in Python, our go-to language
• High proficiency using relational databases and writing queries in SQL
• Experience with consumer, subscription, and/or eCommerce data is highly preferred
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker
• Track record of building strong relationships with cross-functional partners
• Ability to communicate effectively with wide-range of audiences
• Ability to quickly learn new tools and data analysis methods
• Passion for data and its fundamental ability to create value
• Extremely curious and excited to dive into complex problems

The anticipated base salary for this position is $100 to $125K. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held.
