About WhyGolf

WhyGolf is a fast-growing golf training brand helping golfers all around the world suck less. We design original golf aids and a mobile application that help golfers practice with purpose, build confidence, and see measurable results.

WhyGolf is growing mid double digits annually, profitable, and looking to scale our marketing operations. Our next phase is about producing more scroll-stopping Meta ads, improving retention & fostering deeper community engagement.

The Role:

WhyGolf is hiring a Director of Performance Marketing to own revenue-driving paid media across Meta and other performance channels, with creative as the primary lever for scale.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who has scaled DTC performance marketing and understands that growth comes from the intersection of creative, media buying, and data—not from siloed execution.

You will be accountable for outcomes: CAC, efficiency, creative throughput, and scalable growth. That means translating product insights and performance data into winning strategies, ensuring high-quality creative is produced and launched correctly, and continuously iterating based on results.

You will work closely with the founder, Director of Marketing, creative strategists, editors, and external partners to ensure WhyGolf consistently has high-performing ads in market and a clear roadmap for growth.

Responsibilities:

Performance & Growth Ownership

  • Own paid performance channels end to end, with primary responsibility for Meta Ads and expansion opportunities

  • Be accountable for performance outcomes including CAC, CPA, MER, creative fatigue, and scalability

  • Diagnose performance issues and identify whether constraints are creative, media, offer, or funnel-related

  • Partner with analytics to interpret results and turn insights into clear actions

Creative-Led Performance Strategy

  • Define and own the creative testing strategy that drives paid growth

  • Translate golfer psychology, product mechanics, and customer insights into performance-driven messaging frameworks

  • Ensure a consistent pipeline of new angles, hooks, formats, and iterations is in market

  • Balance aggressive performance testing with brand integrity and long-term equity

Execution & Team Leadership

  • Write and oversee clear creative briefs for creators, editors, and internal partners

  • Ensure creative is properly structured, named, launched, and tested in Ads Manager

  • Oversee testing frameworks, iteration cycles, and creative roadmaps

  • Collaborate directly with creative partners to turn raw footage into high-performing ads

  • Provide feedback and direction that improves speed, clarity, and output quality

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the founder and Director of Marketing on growth strategy and priorities

  • Partner with creative, paid media, and operations to ensure alignment and execution

  • Help establish scalable systems, processes, and standards for performance marketing as the company grows

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in performance marketing, growth marketing, or paid media leadership within DTC or performance-driven eCommerce

  • Proven track record of owning paid media performance, not just managing agencies or strategy decks

  • Deep hands-on experience with Meta Ads, including creative testing, iteration cycles, and performance diagnostics

  • Strong understanding of how creative, media buying, and funnel mechanics work together

  • Data-literate and comfortable making decisions from performance metrics

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in briefing and directing creative teams

  • High ownership mentality and comfort operating in a fast-moving, founder-led environment

You’ll Stand Out If You…

  • Have experience marketing golf, sports, fitness, or skill-based products

  • Understand golfer psychology, common swing faults, and how golfers think about improvement

  • Have directly collaborated with editors and creators to ship and iterate winning ads

  • Have scaled paid media beyond early traction into sustained growth

  • Are comfortable being both strategic and hands-on when needed

Compensation & Location:

  • Salary: $110k–$135k (depending on experience)

  • Bonus: $10k–$30k annually tied to CAC, MER, or revenue milestones

  • Performance upside as the company scales

  • Remote role (US-based preferred)
