About the Role

The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Float’s cloud infrastructure and developer platform to ensure high performance, scalability, and security. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, DevOps, and developer experience, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliability, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain a robust and efficient infrastructure by designing, deploying, and managing services such as ECS, EKS, and RDS.

  • Enhance and maintain the continuous integration and delivery pipelines to improve developer productivity, deployment speed, and system stability.

  • Participate in the design and development of a world-class IDP that empowers the engineering organization with self-service infrastructure, tooling, and standardized workflows.

  • Enhance operational efficiency by developing and implementing automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with stringent controls over infrastructure creation and modification.

  • Ensure compliance with cloud security best practices by implementing and enforcing security measures across AWS environments and containerized applications.

  • Optimize cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and reliability through continuous monitoring and targeted improvements.

  • Maintain adherence to AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices by effectively managing and troubleshooting cloud resources.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks through regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and threat modeling.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive security policies, procedures, and incident response plans tailored to cloud and container environments that also support various regulatory and compliance regimes (Such as PCI-DSS 4.0 and SOC2).

  • Integrate cloud infrastructure and security best practices into development workflows by collaborating closely with engineering and operations teams.

  • Provide valuable input on design and application security by participating in architecture reviews and acting as a trusted partner for our stakeholders.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AWS cloud infrastructure and security.

About You

Here’s what sets you up for success at Float:

  • You Put Customers First, Always. You care deeply about delivering meaningful value. Whether you're building internal systems or customer-facing features, you're always thinking about how to make life better for our users.

  • You Act Like an Owner. You take responsibility for outcomes, step up to challenges, and seek solutions proactively—doing what’s best for the business, not just your role.

  • You Think Big and Move Fast. You’re energized by building from 0 to 1. You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo, experiment quickly, and learn as you go.

  • You Constantly Learn and Grow. You’re hungry to improve your craft and open to feedback. You bring a growth mindset to everything you do.

  • You Raise the Bar. You care about doing things well and efficiently. You balance speed with rigor and always look for ways to improve how we work.

  • You Win as a Team. You’re a generous collaborator who values communication, context, and shared wins. You lift others up and help make the team stronger.

In addition to living our values...

  • You’re an owner. You love a challenge, and take great satisfaction in tackling them head on. You love being a pioneer and taking on any task (big or small) and driving it through to completion. You are also comfortable making independent decisions and following your instincts to be able to move quickly.

  • You’re able to explain complex problems in simple terms. As you'll be communicating your requirements to different stakeholders, your ability to present a solution in an understandable way is vital.

  • You have solid technical skills. Strong skills in Infrastructure, Cloud technologies, development and infrastructure security, the current threat landscape and vulnerability management are crucial. Understanding of operational security and development practices is an asset.

  • You understand the business context. You'll be more effective if you understand how your role supports the business and where you can influence the vision and strategy of Float.

  • You’re comfortable with a fast-paced environment. Float is a dynamic environment and things can change quickly. You should be flexible and able to adapt to changes as they occur.

  • You have a strategic mindset. You act in the now but plan for the future. You see where our platform needs to go, put a plan in place and proactively drive that change.

  • You can balance attention to detail and strategic thinking. While it's important to delve into the details of your data, it's equally important to keep the big picture in mind.

  • You ruthlessly prioritize. You will have multiple responsibilities and projects. Being able to effectively manage your workload and meet deadlines is crucial.

  • You’re eager to continue your own learning. Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the ‘why’ behind every answer. You love to have healthy debates with fellow developers and colleagues about the product.
