SEO Growth Lead

Flywheel Digital
Full-time
Remote
Canada
$75,000 - $85,000 USD yearly
The SEO Growth Lead role blends account management, strategy development, and hands-on execution.  You’ll get to shape and implement strategies while working directly on the technical aspects that drive results. While your deepest area of expertise is SEO, you understand how it works in tandem with content, CRO, and email to fuel long-term, profitable growth. Bonus points if you can execute on some or all of these organic channels as well.

The right person for this role knows that SEO isn’t dead—it actually needs more human oversight and strategic thinking than ever. You understand that search behaviour is starting to move beyond traditional search engines—into LLMs and social networks—and SEOs need to balance being on the cutting edge while doubling down on best practices that are still foundational to success. You embrace AI in your workflows and are always testing new prompts, but know it’s a tool to enhance your work and not simply a shortcut.

As a key member of our Organic Growth team, you’ll own the client relationship and drive long-term, measurable outcomes through user-centric growth strategies and detailed execution.

Our client partners include some of the world’s top digital consumer brands, such as Good Inside, Native, Willful, and DUER—but more importantly, we only work with good people. Our unique approach has led to several high-profile industry awards, including Search Engine Land’s Boutique SEO Agency of the Year and Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Fastest-growing Companies.
This is a full-time, remote-first position. Applicants must be based in, and currently eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Client Management—As the primary contact for a portfolio of 4-8 clients, you develop and oversee the execution of organic growth strategies that align with their business objectives. You’re comfortable with synchronous and asynchronous communication, ranging from written reports and emails to Looms and live video calls.
  • SEO Strategy—You don’t just know how to do an audit and implement the findings, you can identify the right levers to continually improve a site’s relevance, authority, and technical health.
  • SEO Execution—You can craft the plan and take charge of bringing it to life. You’ll own a range of execution tasks including creating detailed optimization briefs, providing technical guidance to development teams, conducting audience-focused keyword research, and implementing changes directly in WordPress, Shopify and Webflow sites. You are highly proficient at doing this work hands-on but can also provide guidance to clients or in-house specialists to execute work themselves.
  • Holistic Marketing Integration—You know that rankings and organic traffic are just a means to an end, the real goal is conversions and revenue. While driving the right traffic is your specialty, you understand how other parts of the organic growth puzzle fit together.

Qualifications
The right person has 3-6  years of experience, including:
  • SEO strategy development (keyword strategies, content strategies and technical SEO audits), including experience as the primary owner of the strategy and outcomes.
  • Proven experience managing client and/or stakeholder relationships. Agency experience is preferred but not required.
  • Prioritization of recommendations based on expected effort and impact, and the ability to communicate and advocate for the rationale to non-SEO stakeholders.
  • SEO execution to improve relevance, authority, and technical health through tasks such as content briefs, keyword research, E-E-A-T recommendations, performance analysis, and implementing technical fixes in a CMS.
  • Knowledge of the current SEO landscape and ability to speak to the impacts of recent developments on organic performance (such as AI Overviews, E-E-A-T or LLM optimization).
  • Using GA4 for performance reports, with a strong ability to translate data into insights and use data visualizations to communicate key concepts.
  • Experience with CMS platforms (WordPress, Shopify and/or Webflow) and analytics tools (GA4, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and collaborate with other team members.

Bonus Points:
  • Knowledge of how to integrate other organic channels (such as content, CRO and email) into a cohesive organic growth strategy.
  • Experience with integrating AI into workflows (ie. creating custom GPTs).
  • People management experience.
  • Ability to execute on CRO audits, A/B testing, link-building outreach, and/or analytics implementation.
  • Industry experience in education, omnichannel brands or digital products.
