About the team:

Authenticity Guarantee is an important initiative in eBay where a select category of items are authenticated by professional authenticators in order to increase buyer confidence & satisfaction Authentication Technology is the team responsible for building software for orchestrating the Authentication process and storing high value items. The team is also responsible for building software for warehouse operations including integration with custom hardware, RFID readers & mobile devices running on android platform

About the role:

We are seeking a talented and motivated full stack software engineer who has the skills to design, develop and release the software related to authenticating high value items on time and with high quality. The role requires to design, code, test, maintain software solutions , guide junior team members and also work closely with product managers & peer teams

Requirements:

• Define, design, implement and maintain complex, multi-tier distributed software systems focused on Authenticating high value luxury items
• Drive design and architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews
• Collaborate closely with peers, Architects, Product Managers, Business Partners, Quality Engineers, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet functional and non-functional standards and expectations
• Contribute to the development, testing, release, triage, bug fix, documentation and rest of the cycles in product development and maintenance
• Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changes

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 6+ years of experience or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systems
• Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms. Expertise in all layers of multi-tier applications to design complete solutions and maintain products
• Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in designing &  developing APIs using REST/GraphQL
• Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE or Ruby/Rails, Design Patterns, Spring and Spring Boot frameworks, Web services and Caching mechanisms,
• Knowledge of React, JavaScript and front end frameworks and experience developing front end applications
• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g Google Cloud Platform) , cloud database systems (NoSQL and relational)

performance tradeoffs, load balancing and operational issues

• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operations

Nice to have Qualifications

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Github Actions/Jenkins
• Understanding of git and Github workflows
• Experience developing mobile applications on Android platform
• Familiarity with Event driven architectures and Distributed processing technologies
• Experience working in warehouse operations, Shipping, logistics or luxury item Authentication
• A love of simple, well-tested code that is easy to extend and hard to break

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
