The Role

We’re looking for a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to lead foundational technical efforts that shape the future of Topps.com. This is a pivotal IC role that demands deep technical expertise, cross-functional influence, and strong product orientation. You will help set architectural direction, guide complex execution, and scale systems that power commerce, content, and community. You will also be expected to actively leverage AI tools and methodologies to enhance engineering velocity, ensure code quality, and optimize developer workflows.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and execution of high-impact projects with significant business and customer value.
  • Drive architectural decisions for scalable, performant, and maintainable systems spanning frontend and backend.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, product managers, and designers to align technology with customer and business needs.
  • Act as a technical mentor and thought partner across teams; elevate engineering practices through code reviews, design guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Shape DevOps practices and contribute to automation, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Proactively incorporate AI solutions into technical workflows to drive development efficiency and product innovation.

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record in full-stack web application development.
  • Expert-level fluency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js), API design (GraphQL/REST), and backend systems.
  • Deep experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems.
  • Previous ownership of complex technical domains or product surfaces.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to org-wide technical strategy.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools in software development (e.g., code generation, testing, observability).

 

Preferred

  • Experience in e-commerce or media-rich platforms.
  • Knowledge of Shopify ecosystem.
  • Exposure to real-time systems and personalization at scale.

 

The salary range for this position is $174,800 - $218,500, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
