About Pelican Parts
Pelican Parts is a leading online retailer of Porsche, BMW, and other German auto parts. For over 25 years, we’ve built a reputation among car enthusiasts as a trusted source for quality parts, expert content, and great customer service. We’re a stable, growing company with a casual but fast-paced work environment — the kind of place where talented people can make an impact and grow their skills.
The Role
We’re looking for an additional Web Developer to join our development team. You’ll be working on our ecommerce platform and related tools, helping to enhance site features, improve performance, and support ongoing projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some hands-on web development experience who wants to deepen their understanding of full-stack web development in a collaborative, real-world environment.
You don’t need years of experience — just a solid grasp of programming fundamentals, curiosity, and the drive to learn new technologies quickly. While our current stack includes Perl, we’re open to developers with experience in other web scripting languages (such as Python, PHP, or JavaScript) who are eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of our ecommerce site and related internal tools.
- Collaborate with senior developers on both front-end and back-end projects.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with attention to testing and debugging.
- Assist in improving website performance, functionality, and user experience.
- Learn and apply best practices for database interaction, including writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Support the integration of new features into our proprietary ERP system and web platforms.
- Participate in code reviews and team discussions to learn from experienced engineers.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in web development (including personal, academic, or internship projects).
- Working knowledge of at least one web scripting language (Perl, PHP, Python, or similar).
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and how they work together to create dynamic web applications.
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Comfortable working in a Windows environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (such as jQuery, React, or Vue).
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Exposure to server-side scripting and RESTful APIs.
- Interest in ecommerce platforms or data-driven websites.
- Some experience with automation, scripting, or data processing tasks.
Why Work With Us
- Opportunity to learn from a team of seasoned developers in a supportive environment.
- Exposure to full-stack development — from database to front-end.
- Work on real-world ecommerce challenges and projects with visible impact.
- A culture that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
