Position Summary:

A Developer at The C2 Group is responsible for building and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure frontend and backend systems that power our clients’ digital experiences primarily leveraging .NET frameworks and JavaScript-driven frontends. This role emphasizes across the need for development capabilities that include API development, systems integration, and performance optimization, while also requiring working knowledge of frontend frameworks and practices to ensure seamless collaboration across the tech stack.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team. They will contribute to project planning and help translate business and user requirements into reliable technical solutions. With a solid understanding of backend best practices coupled with the flexibility to contribute to JavaScript-based, frontend implementation, this developer will play a key role in delivering high-quality digital solutions that align with The C2 Group’s proven process and commitment to client success. Optimizely CMS (content management system) experience is preferred.

The C2 Group is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We support a flexible and remote work environment. Our preference for this position will be candidates located in the Midwest, allowing for occasional trips to Grand Rapids.

Accountabilities of the Web Developer:

  • Deliver high-quality, documented code for the development focus
    • Design and implement responsive, accessible front-end solutions using modern frameworks (React, Vue, or similar) with limited quality issues.
    • Design, implement, and extend Optimizely CMS solutions, customizing content types, workflows, and integrations with limited quality issues.
    • Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrations with third-party systems.
    • Deploy, monitor, and scale applications in cloud environments.
  • Scope and complete complex development tasks independently
    • Participate in project scoping process, ensuring project scope fits with realities of coding the project.
    • Meet with project managers and stakeholders to discuss project impediments, needed resources and/or issues/delays in completing project tasks.
    • Scope and refine project requirements.
    • Communicate status of projects/applications and give accurate data forecasts for projects and work items.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and performance issues
    • Diagnose and resolve application errors across the full stack.
    • Monitor system performance and address issues as needed.
    • Investigate and resolve bugs in production and non-production environments with minimal disruption.
    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance team to reproduce, document, and resolve reported issues.
    • Apply root cause analysis to recurring problems and implement long term fixes.
  • Ensure compliance with framework, accessibility, SEO, and design standards
    • Adhere to established coding frameworks and architectural guidelines.
    • Ensure all front-end work meets WCAG accessibility standards.
    • Follow SEO best practices when implementing templates and components.
    • Collaborate with designers to ensure accurate implementation of UI/UX specifications.
    • Validate that deliverables meet compatibility standards.
  • Scope task-level solutions leveraging independent decision-making
    • Break down requirements into clear actionable technical tasks.
    • Identify potential risks or blockers and provide alternative solutions.
    • Make informed technical decisions that balance quality, speed, and maintainability.
    • Document task-level decisions and share with team.
  • Develop and manage solutions aligned with The C2 Group standards
    • Develop solutions according to specifications.
    • Design and develop object models, methods, and properties based on the defined architecture solution.
    • Ensure the developed solution is ready for quality assurance by validating the product against the functional requirements.
    • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree specializing in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three (3) to five (5) plus years of hands-on object-oriented design and programming experience, using .NET Core (C#, ASP.NET Core) and modern JavaScript Frameworks (React, Vue, etc.).
  • Fluency in front end technologies consisting of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind, React, or Vue.
  • Fluency in back-end technologies consisting of C#, ASP.NET Core.
  • Proficiency with SQL databases, Rest APIs, and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience with UX design and processes, Git, ECMAScript, SASS, SVGs.
  • Experience with CMS Development for Optimizely (preferred), Kentico, Shopify, etc.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining web solutions to the cloud (Azure, AWS, or other cloud services).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum principles.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma.
