OVERVIEW 

The Amazon Business Analyst is the analytical engine and the single source of truth for the Beiersdorf Amazon team. You will go beyond standard reporting to conduct deep-dive analyses, uncover the "why" behind the numbers, and provide the data-driven insights that guide our commercial, marketing, and operational strategies. This role reports into the Director, Amazon and is based in Stamford, CT on a hybrid working model, so you must be able to commute to Stamford three times per week. 

Your mission is to ensure that every critical decision made by the Amazon team is informed by robust data and a deep understanding of performance drivers. You are a curious, detail-oriented, and highly analytical individual who is passionate about using data to solve business problems and win on the world's largest eCommerce platform. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Reporting & Dashboard Development: Manage the end-to-end process for all weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reporting, tracking performance against sales, profitability, and operational goals. 

  • Develop & Maintain Dashboards: Design, build, and maintain a suite of dashboards in Tableau/Power BI that provide the team with self-serve access to key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Core KPI Tracking: Report on and analyze key metrics including, but not limited to:
    • Sales: Shipped COGS, Ordered Revenue, Units Sold, Average Selling Price (ASP).
    • Traffic & Conversion: Glance Views, Sessions, Conversion Rate (CVR).
    • Profitability: Net PPM, Trade Spend, Advertising ROAS.

2. Performance Analysis & Actionable Insights: Analyze to identify the root causes of performance trends, explaining why it happened and what the team should do next. Collaborate with Revenue Growth Management Team to share insights and learnings across the Beiersdorf US ecosystem. 

  • Analyze the sales lift from promotions, profitability, and halo effect of all promotional activities (Coupons, Deals, etc.) to inform future investment decisions.
  • New Item Launch Tracking - create and manage performance trackers for all new product launches, monitoring key success metrics during their critical first 90 days.
  • Competitor & Category Analysis using tools like Amazon Brand Analytics to analyze market share, competitor performance, and emerging category trends to identify risks and opportunities.

3. Digital Shelf & Supply Chain Analytics: 

  • Partner with the Digital Shelf team to connect their actions to business results. Analyze the impact of content changes on conversion rate and track the correlation between search rank (SEO) and sales velocity.
  • Monitor the in-stock rates, identify at-risk SKUs, and provide data to the Supply Chain Manager to inform forecasting and prevent lost sales.
  • Analyze weeks of supply and sell-through data to help the team manage inventory levels and avoid overstocks.
  • Forecast weekly order volume by ASIN using statistical techniques and be in a position to explain trends based on sell out performance. Provide historical sales data and analytical insights to support the creation of accurate demand forecasts.

4. Business Planning & Process Improvement: 

  • JBP Support: Provide the foundational data and analysis required for the annual Joint Business Plan (JBP) with Amazon.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes, creating efficiencies that free up the team to focus on more strategic work.
  • Act as the team's subject matter expert on Amazon's data portals (ARA Premium, Vendor Central) and ensure data accuracy and consistency across all reports.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in an analytics-heavy role (e.g., Business Analyst, Sales Analyst, Data Analyst), preferably within CPG or eCommerce.
  • Direct Amazon Experience is a MUST: Proven, hands-on experience and deep familiarity with Amazon Vendor Central and Amazon Retail Analytics (ARA) Premium.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expert-level Microsoft Excel is required (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, complex modeling).
    • Highly proficient in SQL for querying data from a data warehouse (e.g., Azure, Redshift, BigQuery).
    • Strong experience with a BI/Data Visualization tool such as Tableau or Power BI is required.
    • Familiarity with digital shelf analytics tools (e.g., Profitero) is a strong plus.
  • Curious and passionate about digging into data to understand business performance. You must be comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at breaking down complex problems.
  • Ability to communicate complex data and insights to a non-technical audience in a clear and compelling way.
  • Meticulous and committed to data accuracy and integrity.
  • A team player who can build strong relationships and a self-starter who can manage their own workload to meet deadlines.
