Senior Software Engineer, Ruby (Remote)

We’re a growing cloud technology company on a mission to empower ecommerce businesses through accessible and scalable cloud deployment tooling. Our platform supports high-traffic environments, serving hundreds of millions of HTTP requests daily.

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our fully remote team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead key initiatives, mentor junior developers, and contribute to critical product development. You’ll be deeply involved in the software development lifecycle—from architecture and design through testing and release—and play a vital role in scaling and improving our core platform.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead on one or more concurrent projects from our roadmap
• Provide mentorship and coaching to junior engineers
• Maintain and improve code using Ruby, Golang, gRPC, TypeScript/JavaScript, MySQL, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Work across multiple projects and codebases with flexibility and ownership
• Manage projects from ideation to delivery, coordinating with stakeholders and setting clear expectations
• Perform independent, thorough code reviews to ensure quality and successful deployments

Qualifications

Must-Haves

• 6–9 years of experience with both statically-typed and interpreted languages, plus relational databases
• 3+ years in an engineering leadership or mentorship role
• Proven ability to build automations or control systems across multiple services
• Deep experience with parts of our tech stack (see below)
• Proficiency with Docker and strong understanding of HTTP and transport layer protocols
• Track record of technical leadership at a project or team level

Nice-to-Haves
Experience with Groovy and Jenkins libraries

• Background working in ecommerce platforms like Magento, WooCommerce, or Shopware
• Cloud expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Familiarity with networking, bash, and Linux system administration
• Experience with Ruby (not Rails), TypeScript, Golang, and MySQL

Additional Info

• Experience: 6–9 years (with 3+ in a leadership role)
• Salary: $150,000 – $190,000
• Remote Work: Fully remote (must work US time zones: Mountain, Central, or Eastern)
• Travel: Required to meet in-person once per month

Interview Process

• Intro chat and coding test (20 minutes)
• Technical panel interview (3 hours)
• Final round with VP of Engineering (1 hour)
