DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

Holt International finds and supports permanent, loving families for children who are orphaned, abandoned or at serious risk of separation from their families. Through Holt’s model of child-centered care, we help vulnerable children around the world to grow and develop to their fullest potential. We work toward making a difference in the lives of children and families in need, and we’re looking for an experienced WordPress Developer with a strong Digital Marketing background to join our team and help us enhance our online presence while leveraging digital tools for advocacy and growth.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dynamic WordPress Developer with a strong understanding of digital marketing tools and strategies to support the growth and effectiveness of our online presence. This individual will work closely with our marketing and communications team to build, maintain, and optimize websites and web applications that drive engagement, donations, and awareness for our cause.

As a key member of our team, you will combine technical web development skills with your knowledge of digital marketing trends to create seamless and impactful user experiences. Your ability to understand both the technical and strategic marketing sides of web development will ensure that we effectively reach and engage our audiences.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Web Development:

  • Develop and maintain responsive, user-friendly websites and web applications using modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX).
  • Design, Develop and maintain Websites: Build responsive and user-friendly websites using WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Customize Themes and Plugins: Modify existing themes and plugins or create custom ones to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain and Update Sites: Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins to ensure security and performance.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure websites are visually appealing, accessible, and aligned with branding guidelines.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and data systems to support donation platforms, email marketing tools, event registrations, and more.

Marketing Integration:

  • Work closely with the marketing team to implement SEO best practices and ensure websites are optimized for search engines.
  • Create and manage landing pages, forms, and call-to-actions to drive engagement, donations, and volunteer sign-ups.
  • Analyze web traffic and user behavior using tools like Google Analytics (GA4) and suggest data-driven improvements to site performance and user experience.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining automated email marketing workflows and tracking conversions from web-based campaigns.      
  • Support content management systems (e.g., WordPress, HubSpot) and help create and upload marketing content to the website.
  • Monitor and optimize paid advertising campaigns (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.)

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Provide guidance on how web technologies can support marketing initiatives, such as email campaigns, social media integration, and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist in producing online reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide insights to improve conversion rates and website user engagement.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE (minimum requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing with a digital/ web specialization
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional WordPress and digital marketing experience
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above may be qualifying

Qualifications/Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience in both front-end and back-end web development.
  • Proven experience with WordPress development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX).
  • Experience with server-side languages (Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.) and databases (SQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experience with WordPress hosting platforms (Kinsta, WP Engine, etc.).
  • Experience in setting up and managing CMS platforms (WordPress, HubSpot, etc.).
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.).

Marketing, Social and Analytics Skills:

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices, keyword research, and on-page optimization techniques.
  • Experience with Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console.
  • Experience with Google Looker Studio to build custom reports on web traffic, users' behavior, conversion rate, etc. 
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (MailChimp , Constant Contact, etc.) and setting up automated workflows.
  • Experience in A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO).

Other Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for non-profit causes and a strong desire to contribute to a mission-driven organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the social impact sector.
  • Familiarity with fundraising platforms like Blackbaud CRM or similar.
  • Basic graphic design skills using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or Figma.
  • Experience managing online fundraising campaigns and integrating donation calls to action on websites.
