Web Developer

We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual to execute website development tasks while supporting our company mission and values.

Job Objectives

1. This role is for a seasoned web developer who brings technical expertise, with a particular focus on Shopify and Wordpress frameworks, API architecture, and data management. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives on solving complex problems, values documentation and knowledge sharing, and is committed to continuous learning.
2. Serve as a technical expert in planning, testing, and implementing changes to the company's websites to meet the needs of all internal groups. 
3. Assist in ensuring the e-commerce website has zero unplanned downtime or errors.
4. Use various analytics platforms to ensure the e-commerce platform is optimized for user experience, marketing, and SEO.

Essential Functions

1. Research and implement changes to the company’s websites using web development best practices. This includes working with internal and external teams to ensure the e-commerce platform and other sites meet all current and future needs.
2. Build, test, and deploy stable, production-ready code to the company’s Shopify and WordPress websites, with direction given by management and internal teams. 
3. Troubleshoot and quickly resolve any website issues.
4. Assist with the management and implementation of ongoing website maintenance and enhancement.
5. Coordination with Marketing, Customer Experience, and Warehouse teams to improve website and analytics performance.
6. Other duties as requested.

Work Environment

This position can work in a home office setting.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and photocopiers.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full-time position. Normal work times are between Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Flexible schedule with Manager approval.

Occasional hours outside of normal work days and times will be required to support projects or critical systems and processes.

Expected hours: 40 per week

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree or extensive experience in computer science or a related technical discipline. 2 or more years of experience in web development are required. 
2. In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring), with an emphasis on Shopify development.
3. Working knowledge using Git, Shopify CLI, WordPress, Google Workspaces, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, Shopify’s Liquid templating language, PHP, API integration, and MySQL.
4. Experience with web technologies, including but not limited to Google Tags, Wordpress plug-ins, REST and GraphQL, and page optimization preferred.
5. Knowledge of web analytics, social media, and marketing integrations, and SEO.
6. Knowledge of e-commerce, cross-browser compatibility, security principles, object-oriented design, web services, and multimedia content development
